????Roger has been Chief Executive Officer since March 2022.
Before joining the Port of Auckland, Roger was the CEO of Lyttleton Port Company for two years. Prior to that he worked for Air NZ for 6.5 years. His last role at Air NZ was Group General Manager Airports, in which he managed all ground handling and lounge operations at 55 airports around the globe, covering 2,800 staff who handle 18 million passengers annually. He has held several senior leadership roles with Goodman Fielder, including Managing Director of Quality Bakers – New Zealand. Earlier in his working life Roger served for 20 years in the Australian Army, retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel.
Roger holds bachelor degrees in arts and economics, a Masters of Business in Integrated Logistics and an MBA. More recently Roger has completed executive education at INSEAD and Kellogg School of Management. Roger joined the Board of NZ Post in July 2024.
Alistair joined the port in 2006. A civil engineer by trade, he is responsible for providing and maintaining the land and wharf infrastructure, berth and channel access, port buildings and services infrastructure, off-port property and property leases. He has managed a number of significant projects including the Fergusson Container Terminal expansion. Previously, Alistair worked as a consulting engineer for 10? years within the port and infrastructure sectors and on high-profile building projects in New Zealand and the UK.
Allan joined the port in 2000. He has a wealth of knowledge built from more than 3.5 decades working in the marine industry. Originally from Mumbai, India, Allan got his first command? at the age of 28 and for the next 6 years was Master on various types of vessel for a global shipping company – The Great Shipping Company. In 1995, he transferred ashore and rose to the position of Deputy General Manager, responsible for running the commercial shipping operations of 25 tankers. In September 2000 Allan migrated to New Zealand. He worked for various companies in the shipping industry before joining the port. Following an extensive tenure in the role of General Manager Marine and Multi-Cargo, in November 2024, Allan transitioned to General Manager Maritime Services. This newly formed role includes advising the company on maritime regulatory issues and the day-to-day management of Bunkershipz Ltd and Seafuels Ltd.
Andrew Clark is an experienced commercial leader with a background in primary industries, FMCG and the port sector. Joining the port in October 2022, he was most recently the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Lyttelton Port Company, before which he was CFO of New Zealand King Salmon for over 10 years. He has held a number of senior financial roles with Fonterra and other dairy industry companies in New Zealand, Latin America and the USA. ?Andrew leads the Finance, Procurement, and Governance and Risk teams at the port.
Chris Mills joined the executive team in March 2022. With over 20 years of experience in a range of senior human resource and operational leadership roles, he brings a wealth of expertise to the team. Chris previously lived in Canada where he worked as the Vice President – People and Culture for WestJet, a large Canadian airline based in Calgary with over 14,000 employees. Prior to this, he held senior HR roles at Air New Zealand, Coca-Cola and Ford Motor Company. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce Degree, with a major in Management and Employee Relations. After two years in the role of General Manager People, Culture and Communications at Port of Auckland, in November 2024, Chris took on the role of General Manager Marine and Multi-Cargo. Chris has led large operational teams at companies like Coca Cola and Air New Zealand and is looking forward to leading operational teams at Port of Auckland.
Craig joined the port in August 2007. He has had more than 25 years’ experience in the shipping industry, including over 10 years with Maersk New Zealand in a number of senior management positions, including Senior General Manager Oceania Trade Management where he was responsible for commercial policy and the network for the Oceania region. Craig began his shipping career with the Shipping Corporation of New Zealand and has also held various roles overseas.
Gary joined the port in 2020, with the mandate to enhance our Digital team's effectiveness in digitally enabling our business strategy. He brings nearly 40 years of Digital experience and held a number of senior technology leadership responsibilities for Westpac NZ, working as a General Manager at Datacom, and spent seven years in a variety of roles for IBM. In his role of General Manager Digital, Gary is focused on ensuri??ng that we make optimum use of digital technologies, pursuing a continuous cycle of ongoing innovation and improvement to help meet and exceed the expectations of our customers and stakeholders.???
??In February 2024, Phil Doak became part of the executive team as General Counsel. Phil has been a valuable part of our port whānau since 2022 where he championed the High Performance High Engagement model. This role brings dedicated legal expertise into the business, and will plays an important role in the development and implementation of our strategy. Phil is a qualified lawyer with experience in employment relations and as an international corporate transactions lawyer in New Zealand, the United Kingdom and the Middle East. In November 2024, Phil expanded his leadership portfolio by taking on the People and Communications teams (alongside legal). Phil is now General Manager People, Legal and Communications.
Rob Mair joined the executive team as General Manager Health, Safety and Wellbeing in February 2024. Rob previously spent five years working at the City Rail Link project, most recently as the Health and Safety Director for the Link Alliance. He is originally from the UK, has 25 years of experience in a range of senior safety and wellbeing management roles including at London Underground and across London's transport sector. Not only is Rob highly qualified in safety and wellbeing, but he also brings experience in operations and major project delivery.
Tessa is highly experienced in logistics and the supply chain, and has a strong history in managing complex operations. She was most recently General Manager Airports Australia and New Zealand at Air New Zealand. Tessa joined the port in January 2023, and leads the Terminal Operations, Planning and Engineering ?teams.
